The night of October 1, 2017, gunfire rained down upon concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas strip in Nevada, this left 58 people dead and 546 injured. The shooting lasted from 10:05 and 10:15 p.m. The gunman has been identified as Stephen Paddock, he had brought 12 rifles into his hotel room and had equipped them with a device known as a bump-fire stock, which allows the shooter to fire rapidly similar to an automatic assault rifle. He was stationed on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel.
Stephen Paddock previously had no criminal history and no known affiliations with terror groups. Islamic states had tried to claim that he had connections to international terrorist groups but investigators had found no connections. Paddocks father was a notorious bank robber and just like his father, he demonstrated a great amount of sophisticated planning. Paddock was a former accountant and was a fan of high-stakes gambling, police want to discover how he obtained an automatic weapon and bring it into a hotel suite in Las Vegas undetected.
Hotel staff had entered the room in which Paddock was staying multiple times and had not spotted anything that would pose a threat. However, they did notice that he did have more than ten suitcases. Inside of those suitcases were over two dozen guns which he had purchased over a period of years. Another 19 firearms were found in his home along with thousands of rounds of ammunition, as well as some bomb-making materials. His motives are still unclear but investigators are still searching tirelessly for more information on his motives.
