Typhoon Lan hit Tokyo early Monday by Japan's southern coast near Minamiizu killing at least four people so far and many were injured. The typhoon brought dangerous winds and brought about major flooding and mudslides. Winds of over 100mph were recorded which makes it a category 2 storm, this caused the evacuation of 200,000 people and had 2.2 million homes under advisory to prepare for evacuation.

As the typhoon weakens Tokyo is expected to get hit, will bring damaging winds and heavy rains. Parts of Tokyo have experienced a great amount of rain in the past 72 hours which doubles the total in such a period of the year 2000. Large waves have already occurred in South Korea due to the storm.

Throughout Japan, several river banks had burst which resulted in fishing boats being tossed up onto land. A container ship had been swept up onto a harbor wall which left it stranded, the 19 man crew made it off safely. Many of the deaths have been due to people being hit by falling items, people being washed away by flood waters and fishermen tending to their boats. As of now the typhoon as declined to a tropical depression and will not be causing an extensive amount of damage moving forward.
